During the second quarter of 2021, the top carpooling and ridesharing apps on iOS in Africa demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. inDrive. Save on city rides experienced a significant increase in weekly downloads, growing from 7.1K at the end of March to 15.9K by the end of June. Active users also saw an upward trend, rising from around 47K in late March to 52.8K by the end of the quarter.

Careem – rides, food & more showed a modest but steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 3.6K in late March and reaching 4.1K by the end of June. The number of active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, peaking at around 86K in early April and ending at 65.6K in late June.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides experienced a substantial rise in weekly downloads, especially notable from early May, reaching a peak of around 5.8K in mid-May before stabilizing at approximately 3.5K by the end of June. Active users followed a similar trend, increasing from 2K in late March to 10.7K by the end of June.
